Report: Older Electronic Arts games could make a return to Steam
We know that Electronic Arts has a focus on its current releases right now, like Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order . But it appears that some of its classics could get their due again on the Steam front. PCGamesN recently small hints indicating older EA titles might come to Valve's marketplace.
What EA games could make a return?
It started with a look at a new redesign for the website, with the curious inclusion of Mirror's Edge Catalyst in the selection of games. That's a game normally reserved for Origin, so it being thrown in here left some interesting questions.
But then PCGamesN went a step further. They noted that someone played EA's The Saboteur on the service over the past year. It's currently not available on the platform, and yet the playtest happened on December 24 of last year. Finally, Dragon Age II , a title that's been out for several years, received a new "package" just under a week ago.
Members of this particular Reddit community believe this means that a return of EA games to Steam is imminent. That doesn't necessarily mean we'll see new releases like Jedi: Fallen Order , though , as those would likely stay exclusive on Origin.
Neither Electronic Arts nor Valve have confirmed this news yet, so take it with a grain of salt for now. However, opening up its classic library to Steam owners would be a smart move. It could open a new flow of revenue for the publisher, while at the same time re-introducing old favorites. It'd be a good opportunity for players to rediscover games which they missed out on the first time around - like the trilogy.
We'll see what unfolds over the next few months. For the time being, those that want to enjoy EA classics can do so via Origin.
